I'm Iraima, a Venezuelan native and self-taught mixed media artist who abstracts reality and transforms it into visual art language. My path into art began during the pandemic, when uncertainty opened a door I never expected to walk through. With no academic training, I started creating simply to process emotion, then realized a vivid visual language lived inside me. That language grew into Art By Alonso, a Washington, DC studio focused on original mixed media abstracts that translate feeling into color, texture, and movement. Clients today receive work born from that early need for honesty and connection.
My story is self-taught, however it is also professionally validated. In 2025, my work received the Juror's Choice Award at The Falls Church Art Gallery Paper Exhibit in Virginia, and selected pieces now hang in a high-end Washington, DC restaurant alongside gallery representation. These milestones matter because they assure clients that the art they bring into their spaces carries both personal authenticity and respect within the local art community.
Every piece begins with music guiding my hand, which means rhythm, mood, and emotion shape each decision on the canvas. I work intuitively, building layered mixed media surfaces that feel alive in changing light. My process is personal and my client relationships follow the same spirit, low-pressure, open conversations, and clear communication. Whether someone is a first-time buyer or a seasoned designer, I focus on listening before suggesting art for their space.
